Credit Competency: Grassroots and Grass-Tops Advocacy

This is an elective competency of the State Government Relations Professional Certificate Program.

Competency description: In grassroots advocacy, it is the goal of lobbyists to utilize their employees, members, and general public to contact legislators directly to address the issues at hand. Grass-tops advocacy requires a narrow focus of opinion leaders connected to elected officials. Sessions in this competency area will examine successful strategies and techniques used by companies, associations, and citizens to have an impact on legislation throughout the legislative process.
